Glisser stripped back: A glimpse under the hood at our technology

As a Christmas treat, here is a technical piece from us - something for those of you who will be feeling lost not being in-front of a colourful text editor or a command line.

In the modern day there are few operations you cannot perform from your phone, tablet, watch and your good old fashioned web browser. Providing you aren't tied down to the millstone of IE8 of course...

The changing of the tide
In recent years there has been an underlying move in the way software is developed and produced by companies of all size. OS specific programming in C++ has moved to Java Applets which continue to be of enormous importance. But as browsers have been made more powerful, moving from Flash to HTML5, there has been a marked increase in web based development.

This has given Glisser far more flexibility in how we work. Along with a microservice based architecture using PHP and node.js, we have been able to create a free flowing piece of software linking front and back end through APIs. We have a lightweight front end which allows to do much more proactive design changes and something we are proud to present.

Glisser's special blend
This allows our product to be tailored to give a simple User Experience with much greater ease. All of the strings of the web developers bow are suddenly much more easily applied. Dashboards can be created with ease, using a service to make the data available to the browser and then use any number of libraries such as d3.js or chart.js to create clear information that answers questions implicitly.

The ability to make your solution available across so many platforms is key to what we offer with Glisser. Accessing our slides and giving feedback via mobile and tablet gives instant value to viewers and presenters. Bootstrap has been a blessing to developers of undefined screen sizes, and of course there is a fair bit of magic in there to make it tick.

So there it is - a little technical tidbit for you at this festive time of year!
