A Glisser-ning reception at ETL and ETA

Event tech live 2015 took place in the Old Truman Brewery. Glisser turned 1 year old after having launched at the last Event Tech live the previous year. This year saw us back and displaying our event software prowess by powering and enhancing the presentations across three of the four stages, for the day.

I know- we were impressed with ourselves too. Over 2000 visitors came through the doors to witness the freshest and best in event technology. Many different exciting companies were exhibiting alongside Glisser. Poken and Event Wallet cornering the market in contactless information transference. SponsorMyEvent, Bizzabo and Palladium Digital, just to namedrop a few more. Event Wallet even brought a robot to hold a bowl of sweets, enticing many visitors in and then informing them all about Event Wallet from a sugar coma of their own making; a devious but effective plan. That is of course, until we place all our faith in machines and they rise up, put us behind glass and suddenly your toaster and smoothie maker are taking photos of you while you dance for food.

I digress. The event was a great success, and not just for Glisser. Just saying, I mean, you are reading our blog, I’m sure you want to know that our day was enormously successful and beneficial to the company. Are we allowed to plug ourselves during our own blog? I’m not sure…

Oh, well excellent… Moving on.

Every company we spoke with thoroughly enjoyed the day despite their sore feet and now barren boxes of business cards. Since last year the community surrounding event technology has grown closer together, seeing each other at the same events, the same award nights and some even integrating to work together. Nothing brings people closer together than business and partying.

Speaking of partying, the Event Technology Awards began only a few hours after the stands were dismantled and the doors to the event were closed for another year. Companies mingled together under the appearance of a star covered sky, when in fact we were enclosed within a circus themed dream sequence; giant masks with computerised eyes and a moving picture frame showing strong men, and bearded women, a normal night for those of us that live in London.

With thirty awards to give away the night moved with a somewhat urgent pace towards the reason we were all there, besides the free alcohol, food, our friends, networking- well, one of the reasons we were there. Andrew Ryan, Irish comedian, (not the villain in Bioshock if any of you are cool and play video games as well as showing an interest in online presentation tools, and free presentation software). Andrew was hilarious and he made sure the mountain of awards whittled away nicely. Glisser took to the stage excitedly when we were announced as the winners of ‘Best New Technology Product’, which of course gave us such a great burst of pride and euphoria.

Whilst we’re obviously immensely happy to have a third award in as many weeks, and it’s truly wonderful to gain recognition for all the hard work our team has put in to ensuring we made it this far; it provides us with assurance that whether you love Glisser (thankyou!), you’re afraid of our technology, or you have an apathy towards all things presentations, we are necessary and we are being used. Your audiences are engaging with you through us, and our users are utilising everything we can give them to ensure they never plague an audience with a static, stationary presentation where something is clearly missing.

If you’re searching for your missing link. We’re right here, and we’re easy to use. All technological Neanderthals welcome.

Thank you to everyone during the day and the evening, and to all our supporters throughout the last year. Thankyou mostly to Event Tech Live for the chance to display our product loud and proud across the day, and for the evening and our polished, victorious, very effective method of self-defence.
