Who is Bett?

Bett believes in creating a better future by transforming education. Their mission is to bring together people, ideas, practices, and technologies so that educators and learners can fulfill their potential.

Bett’s annual conference serves as a global showcase of best in class innovations, landmark technological breakthroughs and inspiring success stories that when brought together, invigorate the education sector.

Bett and Glisser

For the third year Glisser was chosen to run the live audience engagement at BETT, this time across three theatres; the main BETT Arena, the Schools Theatre, and the Post 16 Theatre.

Bett

This was the perfect event for Glisser, not just because we’re well used in the education sector (we count Harvard University, London School of Economics and the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge as clients), but also because it’s a great showcase of technology that works in a 30 student classroom or a 35,000-strong convention.

Glisser’s Live Polling feature in action

BETT 2018 was a record-breaking event, with over 6,000 interactions from over 2,500 participants, including 500+ audience questions. If these figures weren’t impressive enough, the speakers and attendees’ backgrounds were as varied as the content itself providing an eclectic insight into the world of education.

From the RT Hon Anne Milton MP, Minister of State for Skills and Apprenticeships and Minister for Women, opening BETT 2018, to the broadcaster and Strictly winner Natasha Kaplinsky’s session with students from across Europe, the four days were as ‘passionate, open, knowledgeable and entertaining’ as promised.

Another notable highlight included Bob Geldof’s session. Whilst he might not like Monday’s (who does?!) he sure is passionate about GDPR. The Irish rocker turned political activist, led an insightful and zealous discussion on ‘debunking the myth’ on the incoming data protection regulation, describing it as ‘the hottest subject in the news right now’.

BETT2018 provided a platform not only for distinguished individuals within the education sector and celebrities alike but for students as well. Three students from various Key Stages held a panel discussion in the Schools Theatre focused on collaborative problem-solving, demonstrating an impressive maturity and an awareness of the teachers’ perspective. This inspiring discussion displayed the importance for students to play a role in shaping the teaching and exam systems in the UK.

We also took the chance to learn ourselves, sending our team around the exhibitions to pick up ideas and stay abreast of the latest in edtech…

Glisser’s Mark exploring the delights of VR

Whether it was a speaker, a panel session or an interactive talk, Glisser played an integral part in empowering the conversation into what the future of education holds. Most importantly, it provided a platform for those fundamental to education – the teachers across the UK and the world.
