What are the venue Wi-Fi requirements?
In order to deliver a simple and cost-effective solution for events of all sizes, Glisser operates over Wi-Fi and 4G networks. Audience members do not need to be on the same network as the presenter, but will need an adequate connection in order to receive slides and interact.
As a rule of thumb, we suggest at least 10MB of Wi-Fi bandwidth per 100 audience users – although it is always preferable to exceed this by 50-100% if you assume that audience members are often running various apps simultaneously.
It is also important to ensure there are sufficient Wi-Fi access points in the room. These determine how many people can connect simultaneously. Again, it’s good practice to ensure there are 50% more access points than the number of delegates, in case they are connecting more than one device each.
If you have a strong 4G network, you might find that this is suitable for your audience. Glisser has been used successfully at events with over 1,000 delegates, all interacting over 4G.
We recommend that the presenter laptop is connected via a wired internet connection. However, a segregated stage Wi-Fi network is a good alternative. For smaller events, or those with exceptionally strong Wi-Fi, sharing the Wi-Fi with the audience is not a problem.
Improving the venue Wi-Fi
As part of our Enterprise solution, we are able to recommend our partners who are world-leaders in delivering robust Wi-Fi to event venues. This can include a full heat-mapped assessment of the venue Wi-Fi, a detailed recommendation document, and complete delivery and installation of the network. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss this option.
